How do I replace the motor mount in my car or truck? Replacing the motor mount can be a very tough job, especially if you do not have the right tools. For help with your specific application, please ask in our car forum. We would recommend for you to purchase the motor mounts from us, and bring it to a local mechanic for install. Many times, when replacing the mount, you need to have a jack hold up the engine while you unbolt the mount. If the mount is relatively easy to get to, while the jack is holding up the engine, all you need to do is unbolt the mount, and install the new one in it's place.
Do you sell performance motor mounts? We sell both replacement and performance motor mounts. If your car is not heavily modified, we recommend to get replacement motor mounts, because the mounts will make your drive much more comfortable. Performance motor mounts are much firmer, and tend to allow all engine vibrations to seep into the cabin, making you feel everything. If your car has liquid filled motor mounts from the factory, then our replacements would also be liquid filled. Make sure you have all of your mounts checked, because one bad motor mount, can cause the others to go bad as well. If you do not repair the bad ones all at once, you will always be replacing mounts.
Which mount is the transmission mount? When replacing your motor mounts, its sometimes confusing, because the mount on top of your transmission is the transmission mount, not the motor mount. Make sure if you are looking at our catalog, that if you don't find the mount you need, that you look under the transmission mount category for more mounts.
How can I tell if my motor mount went bad? You can tell by looking to see if the mount has a tear, or if the mount literally burst, and the liquid escaped. You can also try to literally rock your engine back and forth, and see if it's unusually easy to rock. Many times you can tell when you are accelerating if the motor actually fees like it rocked and hit something. With manual transmission cars, this can also make it very tough for you to shift gears.
