When you need to get a new clutch, we have clutch kits that come with everything your particular application
requires for a full clutch job. We carry all of the best clutches, with everything from replacement Exedy Clutch
Kits to performance Exedy Twin Plate clutches that are designed to increase holding capacity for modified cars and
trucks. Our clutch kits are complete, and require no modification or custom work to install. Depending on the
application, our clutch kits include: Pressure
Plates, Clutch Discs, Pilot Bearings, Release Bearing and sometimes an alignment
tool.
How can I tell if I need a new clutch?
Often times, people think they need a new clutch, but actually do not. It's easy to test if you need a new clutch,
or if your clutch simply might be glazed, or have another issue. Take your car on the freeway, and once on the
freeway, make sure you are in the top gear. Push on the gas about halfway down, and lug the engine a little bit.
If you see that the engine RPMs are rising, but the car is not accelerating, then your clutch is slipping. It's
simply not holding the power, and it's not getting to the transmission. In this case, you need a new clutch, and
when getting a new clutch, we recommend a new flywheel.
My car is modified, what kind of clutch do I need?
It really depends no how modified your car is. If you have basic modifications, you can usually continue to use
the factory clutch. The benefits to the factory clutch are soft pedal pressure, easy engagement, and very easy to
drive in traffic. The disadvantages, are a short life for modified vehicles that make more power than stock. You
can always ask other members in our forum what their recommendation would be. For those cars who have added a
supercharger, turbo kit, or nitrous system, we do recommend a performance clutch, and ask that you browse our
catalog for performance clutches.
What do you recommend for clutch break-in?
We highly recommend a proper break in procedure for your clutch kit. We recommend that for you to drive your car
very mellow and smooth for the first 400-500 miles, and ensure that the clutch disc works itself snuggly into the
pressure plate (also known as the clutch cover), and the flywheel. This will ensure your friction material
experiences normal heat cycles, and lasts long due to a proper embedding process.
