The air filter is responsible for capturing dirt and grime that travels into the air box from the air scoop, and
engine bay. This is important, because you want to make sure your air filter does a good job filtering for
contaminants, but does not restrict air flow to the intake system, and ultimately the engine, because this will
actually hurt performance, gas mileage, and possibly reliability.
We carry various different brands of both replacement air filters and also performance air filters made by
aftermarket companies, and also companies that produce car air filters for cars from the factory. One notable
company that makes factory air filters is Denso. We carry Denso air filters for just about every make and model
car and truck, and ensure that our air filter parts are higher quality than those you purchase at your local
dealer.
How often do I need to replace my air filter?
You can't offer a blanket response for this kind of a question, because, it simply depends on your driving
conditions, and the area that you live in. If you live in a dusty area, or an area that is mainly off road, you
will need to replace your air filter much more often than someone who lives in the city or suburbs. We recommend
to check your air filter often to make sure that the front surface of the air filter doesn't look too dirty. We
recommend changing your air filter from every 15,000 miles to 30,000 miles, depending on the conditions described
above.
Do you sell reusable air filters?
We are proud to sell K&N Air Filters, which come with a million mile warranty, and are washable and reusable.
These K&N Air Filters come with a million mile warranty, and are generally out last the life of your vehicle.
These K&N filters are a little bit more expensive, but since they never need to be replaced, they make up for their
price time after time.
Do you sell performance air filters? What is the benefit?
Absolutely. Our K&N Air Filters are considered performance air filters, because they allow more air flow, and this
creates more power, and better fuel economy. However, the difference with the K&N Air Filters, is that these
performance air filters actually filter better than standard paper filters such as the Mann, Denso or Bosch, due to
their special, and very unique design.
Is it hard to replace my air filter? Do I need to take my car to a mechanic?
Most modern cars make it extremely easy to replace the air filter, and in many cases, this can only take 5-10
minutes, and is much easier than doing an oil change. Simply locate your air box, and pop back the springs holding
the cover over the air filter box. Once you do this, you can pull the air filter box back, and reveal the air
filter. Simply remove the filter, clean the box of any leaves or dirt, and put the new filter in it's place. Snap
back the springs, and you are done! On some cars or trucks, instead of springs, you might need to loosen a few
bolts.
Can a dirty air filter cause other problems?
A dirty air filter can not only cause dirt to get into your engine, but it can also let dirt past that can cause
other damage. Dirt that gets past the air filter can clog the air mass sensor, or air mass meter, and it can also
contaminate your throttle body, throttle position sensor and various other sensors way before it even reaches your
engine. On a turbocharged vehicle, much of the dirt can end up in your intercooler, and cause your intercooler
efficiency to drop, and on a supercharged vehicle, you can have dirt pile up in your aftercooler. For the cost of
a new air filter, there is really no reason to not change it per recommendation.
