Tokico Suspension
As the original developer of low pressure gas shock absorbers for practical automotive use, TOKICO has continued to develop and improve upon the original design. Better control of proper damping force and further development of height adjusting technology places TOKICO at the forefront of vehicle suspension technology. Our goal is to satisfy customer demands with the best possible suspension.
TOKICO’s D-Spec Series adjustable shock is a multi-use product that’s the result of sophisticated piston and valving design. In addition, it utilizes a unique variable-aperture bypass, which is controlled by an adjustable slide valve. D-Spec (damping specific) adjustments change both rebound and compression damping simultaneously. Between maximum soft and hard settings, the D-Spec is infinitely adjustable. D-Spec shocks and struts are sold in sets of four. Each set includes a manual explaining the adjustment process as well as covering suspension tuning tips. D-Spec suspension kits include four D-Spec shocks/struts and four sport lowering springs. The kits are in the process of being developed and will use the prefix DSK in the part number. For the serious enthusiast, TOKICO offers five-position adjustable Illumina Series shocks and struts. Its sophisticated adjustment system was designed for tuning street suspensions, so you have the ability to set up your car’s handling for a variety of driving environments. Using a screwdriver, a simple click indicates your change to ride or handling balance. So whether you’re going to the track, or simply cruising, the Illumina’s adjustment range adapts to your needs. Illumina even works on the race track. Steeda, a nationally known Mustang tuner, uses Illumina struts and shocks on their road race and drag race cars. The Illumina units not only perform well, but Steeda is pleased with their durability. Internally, Illumina uses TOKICO’s sophisticated multi-stage, variable-aperture piston and valve system combined with a five-position bypass shutter-valve. This valve system allows simultaneous rebound and compression damping adjustment. A shutter-valve detent permits making easy adjustments, so that you can make quick changes and still know which setting you’ve chosen. TOKICO Advanced Handling Suspension Kits improve handling and vehicle appearance. The kits combine either the performance HP Series non-adjustable shocks/struts, five-position adjustable Illumina Series shocks/struts, and D-Spec/HTS Infinitely adjustable Series shocks/struts with a matched set of performance lowering springs. Manufactured from the finest alloy spring steel, TOKICO springs are engineered to provide excellent handling without compromising ride quality. Like other TOKICO products, these kits carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty. SUSPENSION KITS Caution: Excessive lowering can damage your car and void your shock warranty. Proper lowering improves handling and driving enjoyment. Excessive lowering reduces ground clearance and suspension travel. It can cause problems including: TOKICO's new TREKMASTER R/T shocks use the latest technology to attack the problems of proper damping control on trucks and SUVs. The sophisticated oil-flow management system offers: The TREKMASTER Series combines TOKICO’s multi-stage variable-aperture piston and sandwich valve system, with a new base valve design that provides a four-stage dual blow-off compression cycle. What all of that means is, the TREKMASTER provides a level of handling, traction, and ride quality unmatched by other shocks. In addition to the very sophisticated damping system, TREKMASTER shocks feature a low mechanical drag rod guide and piston seal design. The result is up to 65 percent less mechanical drag compared to other shocks. Smooth operation and long life are the benefits The graph above illustrates a TREKMASTER damping force curve compared to an original equipment shock curve. On the rebound side, the TREKMASTER uses less resistance at low piston velocities for better traction and ride. Increased resistance occurs at medium to high piston velocities to control chassis pitch and lean. The TREKMASTER uses enough compression damping to keep the tires on the road, but not so much that traction and ride quality suffer. The result – good adhesion and low impact harshness for better ride quality. |
