KSport USA
What makes this Type R special is it’s ability to compete at the highest level using completely off the shelf parts from KSport USA’s warehouse. All KSport parts on the Type R are completely original from the box, same as any customer would purchase them. Only spring rates have been changed on the dampers (12kg on all four corners). That said, this Type R uses the following suspension products from the KSport USA catalog: GT Pro dampers, ProComp big brakes on all four corners, rear camber kit, rear lower control arms, upper camber/caster plates and adjustable bump-steer kit. The engine has been highly modified with an ERL designed engine block, along with a Full Race turbo kit that spins a Garrett GT3035 twin-scroll turbocharger. At the end of the day, the KSport Type R makes 373hp on the dyno, with excellent response and is very easy to drive for a front-wheel-drive car. All power is transferred through the OEM Type R gearbox with a KAAZ clutch differential. Holding the Type R to the track is a set of Tenzo-R 18x8.5” wheels with P245/35ZR18 Hoosier R6 competition tires. As it sits, the KSport Type R weighs in at a scant 2300lbs, largely due to it’s utilization of carbon fiber and composite materials throughout the exterior and the cabin; the only remaining OEM panel is the roof skin. As a development vehicle for AIT Racing, many parts available for the world market were developed on this Type R. Look for the KSport Type R at time attack events from Redline, GT Live, NASA and Super Lap Battle. |
